Web snippet: Get started

Follow these steps to enable Web snippet on your website:

Create a new web snippet

  1. Go to AltTextLab Web Snippets page.
  2. Click ”Create web snippet”.
  3. In the modal window, enter your website domain.
  4. Select the basic settings:
    • Writing style – e.g., neutral or minimal.
    • Language – the default language for generated alt text.
  5. Click Create.

Add the embed code to your site

  • After creating the snippet, copy the generated code.
  • Paste it into your website, preferably before the closing </head> tag.

Once the code is installed, Web snippets will begin scanning your site for images without alt text.

Test that Web snippet is working

  • On the first page load with a new image, Web snippet sends the image URL for analysis and alt text generation.
At this moment, you won’t see the alt text yet, but you can confirm that a generation request was made.
  • Once the alt text has been generated and stored in the CDN, it will appear on all subsequent visits.

To verify this, simply reload the same page after a short while. You should see alt text automatically added to images that were previously missing it.

In addition, all processed images will appear in your AltTextLab dashboard.
