The AltTextLab browser extension lets you generate alt text for any publicly accessible image directly in your browser. Right-click an image, select AltTextLab: Get alt text, and the description appears in a popup within seconds.

Supported browsers

Firefox

Install from Mozilla Add-ons.

Edge

Install from the Microsoft Edge Add-ons store.

How it works

  1. Right-click any image on a public webpage
  2. Select AltTextLab: Get alt text from the context menu
  3. The extension sends the image URL to the AltTextLab API
  4. A description appears in a popup — click to copy

Requirements

  • An API key from the AltTextLab dashboard
  • The image must be publicly accessible (not behind a login or firewall)
