Automatic generation

When Auto-generate alt text for new assets is enabled in settings, the plugin generates alt text for every newly uploaded image automatically. Generation takes a few seconds, so the alt text may not appear immediately — check again after a short delay. You can disable this behaviour in AltTextLab → Settings by turning off Auto-generate alt text for new assets.

Bulk generation — full library

To generate alt text for all images in your asset volumes:
  1. Go to AltTextLab → Bulk Generation.
  2. Click Run generation.
This creates a new Job that runs through Craft’s queue system. You can track its progress in AltTextLab → Bulk Generation History.

Bulk generation — selected assets

To generate alt text for specific images only:
  1. Go to the Assets tab in the control panel.
  2. Select the images using the checkboxes.
  3. Open the action menu and choose Bulk generation.
Only the selected assets are queued for processing.
