# Usage

> Generate alt text automatically on upload or process your existing asset library in bulk.

## Automatic generation

When **Auto-generate alt text for new assets** is enabled in settings, the plugin generates alt text for every newly uploaded image automatically. Generation takes a few seconds, so the alt text may not appear immediately — check again after a short delay.

You can disable this behaviour in **AltTextLab → Settings** by turning off **Auto-generate alt text for new assets**.

## Bulk generation — full library

To generate alt text for all images in your asset volumes:

1. Go to **AltTextLab → Bulk Generation**.
2. Click **Run generation**.

This creates a new Job that runs through Craft's queue system. You can track its progress in **AltTextLab → Bulk Generation History**.

## Bulk generation — selected assets

To generate alt text for specific images only:

1. Go to the **Assets** tab in the control panel.
2. Select the images using the checkboxes.
3. Open the action menu and choose **Bulk generation**.

Only the selected assets are queued for processing.
