# Firefox add-on

> Generate alt text for any image on any website, right from Firefox.

## Installation

  <Step title="Install from Mozilla Add-ons">
    Open the [AltTextLab page on Mozilla Add-ons](https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/ai-alt-text-generator/) and click **Add to Firefox → Add Extension**.

  <Step title="Open add-on options">
    Click the puzzle icon in the toolbar, select **AltTextLab**, then **Options**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Enter your API key">
    Paste your API key (from [dashboard settings](https://app.alttextlab.com/settings/api-keys)) and click **Save**.

## Usage

1. Navigate to a page with an image
2. Right-click the image
3. Select **AltTextLab: Get alt text**
4. Copy and paste the result where needed

## Configuration

| Setting            | Description                                                                             |
| ------------------ | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Language           | Output language for generated alt text                                                  |
| AI writing style   | `neutral`, `descriptive`, or `minimal` — see [Writing styles](/features/writing-styles) |
| Keyword extraction | Extract page keywords to improve relevance                                              |
| Auto-copy          | Copy result to clipboard automatically                                                  |

## Requirements & limitations

Images must be publicly accessible. Login-protected or blocked images may fail to generate.
